Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is a unique model based on Hub-Spoke and coherence approach to align with the innovation and entrepreneurship promotion and support programs are being organized by various departments and ensures round the year activities in campus for effective engagement, learning and practicing innovation and entrepreneurship among student and faculty community. The IIC is registered under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

Our Innovation Ambassadors:
Dr Sheeena Xavier, Dr Anu Anto, Ms Shereena John and Ms Sonia John Markose have attended the Innovation Ambassador Training Series hosted by MHRD. They act as mentors to guide young minds in their pursuit of Innovation and entrepreneurship.
National INNOVATION and STARTUP Policy:
Our college has signed up for Joining the Campaign on Implementing National Innovation and Startup Policy in Higher Educational Institutions across the Nation to actively engage students, faculties and staff in innovation and entrepreneurship related activities. An Awareness session on National Innovation and Start-up Policy (NISP) for Students and Faculties of St Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva was conducted on 29/11/2019 under the Institutions’ Innovation Council. Dr Revathy. S, Dr Sheena Xavier, Dr Liss Marie Das, Dr Tinsy Rose Tom, Mrs Asmy Antony, Mrs Sonia John Markose internal IIC coordinators served as resource persons. A total of 387 members participated (360 Students and 27 Faculty )
BUSINESS IDEA PRESENTATION
The Institution’s Innovation council organised BUSINESS IDEA PRESENTATION Competition on 07-02-20. Students from various institues presnted ideas on the theme “ Environment & Swachh Bharat” on the various problem statements. Team from Bhavan’s Girinagar developed a product FILTEX 20, a film like structure which when immersed in the polluted dye water for a few hours ,absorbs all the dye particles as a thin layer on the film bagged first. Products made of fish scales bagged second and B2N bottles bagged third prize. Dr Linda Louis & Dr Vandana Aravindan were the jury panel members.
Internal Hackathon
The Institution’s Innovation council organised and Internal Hackathon on 07-02-20 to nominate teams for the Smart India Hackathon 2020. Ideas presented on the problem statements Agriculture & Rural Development and Security & Surveillance ( Hardware) were selected for nominating to Smart India Hackathon 2020. Dr Linda Louis & Dr Vandana Aravindan were the jury panel members.
IPR Centre Visit
As part of exposure visit, the Institution’s Innovation Council & ED Club Coordinators Dr Revathy.S, Ms Shereena John along with 42 students from various departments of St Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva visited the Inter-University Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT on 15/01/2020. Dr I.G Rathish, Ms Anjana Girish (Assistant Professors), Mr Bilali Nazeer & Ms Karishma Birthare ( Research Officers) gave awareness session to students followed by a short film on “Rights of Creators” produced by the IUCIPRS Team , CUSAT .
Participation in India’s First Leadership Talk and Webinar Series
With a purpose of systematically fostering innovation and entrpreneurship Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has organised India’s First Leadership Talk and Webinar Series and our faculty and students actively participated in the sessions.
National Innovation Day
Innovation day on October 15th 2019, to Commemorate the Birth Anniversary of our late president, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. Dr Revathy.S & Ms Akshara Madhu (III BSc Zoology) shared the Significant Contributions of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in Nation Building and how his humbleness, creativity, passion, and perseverance should be followed as a role model into our lives. Students and faculty members joined to pay homage and respect to Dr APJ on his birth anniversary.
National Science Day Observation
On the occasion of National Science Day 2020 ,our College has commemorated discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’, on 28th February 2020 in the loving memory of creative mind par excellence Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, famously known as Sir C V Raman. The day is known for one of the greatest Innovation and scientific achievement of India, Raman Effect, discovered by Sir CV Raman, who won the Nobel Prize in 1930. Various activities were organised in association with the clubs on the theme “Path-breaking Innovations /scientific achievements from India for humankind”.
My Story Session with Next Gen Entrepreneurs
The Institution Innovation Council, ED Club in Association with TIE Kerala organized an interactive session as part of Global Entrepreneurs’ Day. Mrs Parveen Hafeez, MD Sunrise Hospital, May Joy, MD Ziva Maternity Wear, Anu Joseph, Founder of Cassaro Creamery, Nisha Krishnan, Founder of Channel IM, & Geetha Vinoj, MD Eat Green shared their experiences
My story session with Innovators in campus
Student Innovators shared their story of developing best out of waste and how they were motivated into this idea of recycling bottles, wool, clothes, cardboards and pens into beautiful handicraft materials. They also gave small hands on training to their classmates.
State Level Hackathon
Students of Department of Zoology Ms Aswani Viswan, Ms Sandra MA & MS Chithrathara M under the guidance of Dr Revathy. S representated ernakulam district for the State level ED Club Conclave “ Enlight 2020”, organised by the Industry & Commerce Ministry, Government of Kerala and grabbed first for the Hackathon competition.
Microgreen challenge
The Institution’s Innovation Council as part of community extension program has organised a microgreen challenge for a healthier tomorrow in Association with the Department of Zoology and NSS Unit of our College. We got innumerous response from students, faculty, alumni and people from different parts of the world contributed to this.
Dance to heal
The Council in association with the Zoology Department also organised a “ Dance to heal” program to cope up with the quarantine stress. The students came up with an array of dance series video. An awareness song by Ms Jeeva Sabu of Third Dc Zoology was also circulated.
Lock Down Re- Designs
The council in association with NSS, EBSB Club and Tourism Club also organised“Lock Down Re- Designs to share the creativity of students, faculty and their family members and alumni.
Corona awareness and Innovative Home Made Masks
Students have brought out innovative self-designed masks and also have spread awareness to reduce the spread of corona virus.
