IQAC Activities

IQAC has co-ordinated a no. of activities in the college including Digitalizing the feedback system, Academic and Administrative Auditing, Green Auditing, Conducting Academic Week, Creation of e mail ids for faculty in the college domain and initiation of the Wig Donation programme for cancer patients.

Training programmes are annually conducted both for teaching and administrative staff. Several training and other sessions on different topics like Holistic Education, Mentoring, New teaching techniques and tools like MOODLE, Stress Management etc. were given to the teaching staff. Efficiency enhancement programmes and time management sessions were provided to the administrative staff. A NAAC sponsored seminar on Academic and Administrative auditing was conducted by IQAC. The above programmes resulted in improving the efficiency and commitment of the staff by diminishing their stress and by acquainting them with the latest trends and improvements in the field.

IQAC conducts annual presentations that cover the activities and achievements of all departments. The presentations done by all departments at the end of each academic year helps all to know the various innovative teaching and learning practices followed by others. The discussions that ensue facilitate modifications, improvements and rectifications.
The annual Academic and Administrative Auditing helps in realizing the current status of the institution in these areas and helps in improving the same. The feedback system also ensures remedial measures and consequent improvements.

IQAC -14-15
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college made efforts to invigorate the existing mentoring system in the college. An orientation programme on “How to Strengthen the Mentoring System” was conducted for the faculty by Dr. Molly Kuruvila, Associate Professor, Dept. of Women’s Studies, University of Calicut. It is a matter of pride for IQAC that the feedback system was completely computerized this year. Several extension programmes like organic farming projects, entrepreneurship training to women in the neighboring locality were conducted under the auspices of IQAC. An orientation session on ‘Effective Administration and Stress Management’ was given to the administrative staff by Mr. Balamurali Head, Quality & HR, Nest Group. The academic and library week was celebrated with a series of talks, seminars and exhibitions. A training was conducted for the junior faculty members in ICT Tools and Techniques.

IQAC 15-16

The IQAC launched a Hair and Wig Donation Programme, ‘Solace’ for Cancer Patients in District Govt. Hospial, Ernakulam which was inaugurated by Dr. V.P. Gangadharan. Wigs made from hair donated by the students are handed over to the patients regularly. Three FDP programmes were conducted during the academic year. Teaching Towards Future – an orientation on Futuristic Education was given by Dr. Fatima Cross and an ICT Training on ‘Advanced Teaching Technique’s with special focus on Moodle was conducted in collaboration with ICT Academy of Kerala. A Oneday Workshop on Holistic Education was held in Association with IIT, Madras. Mrs. Rema L. of IMG led A Personality Development and Efficiency Enhancement programme for the Administrative Staff. A Seminar on ‘Women and the New Laws’ was conducted in association with All India Lawyer’s Union. A class on Govt. Service Rules for the faculty & administrative staff was conducted. Food and Drinking water were sent to the flood affected areas in Chennai as a social extension initiative. The IQAC was successful in implementing Annual Academic Auditing during this academic year. A NAAC sponsored National Seminar on “Academic and Administrative Auditing “was conducted on March 18, 2016. The academic and library week was celebrated with a series of talks, seminars and exhibitions.

An orientation on NAAC Reaccreditation to faculty by Dr. TC Thankachan, Asst. Prof., St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Palai. Academic and Administrative Auditing completed.
