Features
The Hindi Department started functioning in 1964. At present, the department has only one permanent teacher. Hindi is taught only as a second language.
Practice
     The Hindi department has always attained a 100% academic result every year. Students are given conversation passages to develop their communicative skill. We concentrate on giving stress to correct pronunciation and accent. To make them more accurate, we provide them language lab facility with the support of the staff of the English department.
     Likewise, students who get into Central Government services as Hindi Translators need rich vocabulary. Even though Hindi is taught as 2nd language, we have adopted a vocabulary development programme - learn a word a day'. We are concentrating on technical terminology, as it is essential for official correspondences.

      We encourage them to participate in Hindi elocution, debate competitions outside the campus. Also prepare students for the Pre-test conducted by the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha.
      Kerala being a Mini India, knowledge of Hindi becomes essential, as we have to communicate with people from other states. Besides, the NCC cadets and students who opt various courses outside have always found it easy to survive because of their communicative skill in Hindi. Students who have not studied Hindi are given extra coaching outside the class during noon interval.
     Besides these curricular activities of the Hindi Department, Lt.Dr. Bridget Joseph.K is the Associate NCC Officer who is rendering her valuable services to promote the organizations activities.
