Features
The Department of Mathematics was instituted in 1964.  The first Principal of the College Sr. Redempta (MA, M.Sc, Ph.D) was a faculty of the department.  From 1964 to 1985 Sr. Bencita was the Head of the Department followed by Mrs. Sumangala Devi till 2001.  The other HODs were Mrs. Omana (2001-02) and Mrs. Savithri (2002-04). Currently Sr. Mary M.J is the HOD with Sr. Benedict Mary A and Mrs. Aparna Lakshmanan S as faculty members. 

Objectives
i. To produce skilled, intelligent and dedicated teachers to teach Mathematics
ii. To promote interest for Pure and Applied Mathematics in students.
iii. To give the awareness on the wide application of Mathematics
iv. To produce intellectually illumined socially upright and spiritually enlightened women through academic excellence, personality development, spiritual formation, value education, social awareness and harmonious relationship along with the academic qualification

Seminar on Recurrence Relations

2010-2011

The activities of the Mathematics Association were inaugurated by Dr.C.Sheela, Vice Principal, FISAT. Seminars were conducted on the topic 'Applications of Mathematics' by Dr.C.Sheela Vice Principal, FISAT and 'Applicability of Classical Mathematics in Contemporary world' by Prof. K. T.Arasu, Wright State University, USA.  An exhibition of photographs and contributions of 36 major mathematicians was an interesting activity of the department. A quiz competition based on the exhibition was also conducted.

2009-2010

    The Mathematics Association was inaugurated by Mrs.Usha Devi Kunjamma, Head of mathematics department, U.C.College. A seminar on 'Inter-connection between various mathematical disciplines' by Dr.A.Vijayakumar, Department of Mathematics, CUSAT was conducted on 13^th of June, 2009. A one day seminar on 'Career advances' was conducted on 16^th of November, 2009.The students of the mathematics department collected Rs.7250/- as a part of Christmas celebration and handed over to the authorities of SOS to sponsor a child. A manuscript magazine is to be released on February 1^st, 2010.
