The Post Graduate Department of English is conducting UGC sponsored, two day National Seminar on "Literature and Environment: Deep Ecological Perspectives" on July 10-11, 2013.

 

State Level Seminar & Workshop on " Microbial Techniques and Principles"

The Department of Microbiology conducted a three day state level seminar and workshop on MICROBIAL TECHNIQUES AND PRINCIPLES from 16th to 18th January 2013 cosponsored by KERALA STATE COUNCIL FOR SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT. This workshop provided hands on training in basic techniques involved in microbiology for students and faculties of science. 

The principal Rev.Sr. Reethamma inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp and also delivered the presidential address. The chief guest Professor Dr. D. D. Namboodiri, College of marine sciences and technology, Eritrea, Africa delivered the key note address. He mentioned about the Food Poisoning and the developments in the food microbiology field and applications. Seminar session was dealt by Dr. A. K. Prema, Professor and former HOD, Department of Zoology, Cochin College about 'MICROBIAL METABOLISM' .The workshop session included experiments from medical, environmental, food & agricultural microbiology and an overall information about the bioinstrumentation. 

       On the second day, the 17th of January, a talk on 'RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN MICROBIAL TECHNIQUES' was made by Dr. M.S. Jisha, Associate Professor, School of Biosciences, M.G. University, Kottayam. 

         On 18tha valedictory function was conducted in which the principal Rev. Sr. Reethamma handed over the certificates to the participants. Students, research scholars and faculties from various colleges and schools were participated.

One day UGC Sponsored State Level Seminar on 'Advances of Biotechnology in Agriculture & Medicine & The Possible Ethical Issues' was Jointly Organized By: Department of Botany, Department of Zoology & Department of Microbiology on 27th September 2011.The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Sarita G Bhatt H.O.D , Department of Bio technology, CUSAT, followed by two technical sessions in which eminent resource persons gave talks and lectures.

        I.Q.A.C. of  the College organized a National Level Seminar on the Topic "Enhancement and Sustenance of Quality in Higher Education - Widening Horizons" form 23-2-2011 to 24-2-2011.

INTERDISCIPLINARY NATIONAL SEMINAR 

        The Departments of English, Malayalam and Hindi jointly organized a National Level Seminar and Paper Presentation on the topic “Ecology and Poetry† from 29th to 30th June 2010.  The famous Malayalam poet D. Vinayachandran inaugurated the seminar and various sessions were held in which eminent resource persons gave talks and lectures.  Paper presentation sessions were there for students from various colleges.  The seminar stood out with its eco-friendly theme and the unique collaboration of the language departments.  The valedictory function was inaugurated by Dr. Muse Mary George, poet and faculty of U.C. College.
