St. Xavier’s College for Women is situated on the enchanting banks of River Periyar. College is functioning under the management of the Congregation of Teresian Carmelites (C.T.C.), and is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University. St. Xavier’s is a long cherished and hard realised dream of Rev .Mother Mary Magdaline CTC, the Foundress of the college, Rt. Rev . Msgr. Augustine Maveli, the Co-Founder and Rev . Mother Isabel C.T.C. the First Manager of the College.
The college currently offers various courses in aided and self financing streams. The courses include 13 UG courses, 6 PG courses,and 3 Ph.D programme. Four add on programmes and computer courses are also offered by the college
Research has been given a strong thrust along with teaching- learning and Research Promotion Council was constituted in 2013 to promote and coordinate research activities. College has received grants under various schemes from funding agencies like UGC, DST, KSCSTE, KSHEC. The Physics department is supported by DST-FIST scheme since 2014 and the science departments are supported under DBT-STAR College scheme 2016-17. An increasing number of students are engaged in significant and often publishable research at the undergraduate and post graduate level with the funding support from government agencies like KSCSTE (Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment). The Research Promotion Council provides information about funding sources and co-ordinates the research activities in the College. Every year a 18 member council with a coordinator, secretary and faculty representatives was constituted with Principal as the chairperson.
The college is affiliated to MG university, and follows the online admission procedure . Online registration has to be submitted through UG-CAP and PG-CAP facility at MG university. The admission for UG management/community quota is online through college website
The college supports its most important stake holders , Students with a no. of programmes that enables them to excel in academics, co- curricular and extra curricular activities. WWS, ASAP, SSP programmes introduced by Collegiate Higher Education Dept, Is functioning exceptionally well in the college.
St. Xaviers college for Women is situated in the heart of Aluva town, spreading over 7 acres. Campus is Wi-fi enabled and is endowed with excellent physical infrastructure which provides an academic ambience conducive to the holistic development of the students.
The institution maintains a high pass percentage at UG and PG levels with University ranks/positions. With limited no. of PG courses, college still maintains record of students qualifying in competitive examinations like CSIR/UGC-JRF/NET, GATE and UG students who clear r PG entrance examinations of reputed universities and institutions . Our students take part in National/International sports and games competitions including and bring laurels to the nation. The college NSS unit has won several awards and in one among the best units of MG University.
IQAC monitors the maintenance of quality in all areas of the institutional activities. Formed in accordance with the guidelines and norms set by NAAC, it tries to ensure that quality is strictly maintained, sustained and augmented by taking the needs of all the stakeholders into consideration. The cell helps in ensuring more effective and active participation and contribution of all the stakeholders.
